Sri Lanka to shut Kelaniya refinery due to crude oil supplies
In January, Sri Lanka is to once again temporarily shut its sole 50kbd (2.5Mnta) Kelaniya refinery for a month, due difficulties in purchasing crude oil on the prevailing foreign exchange shortage in the country, this follows the few weeks closure in mid-November.
Sri Lanka consumes approx. 110kbd (5.5Mnta) of oil products but only produces approx. 35kbd (1.75Mnta) at the refinery.
