Phase 2 of Ogbele refinery to be commissioned in March 2019
Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) will be commissioning Phase 2 of the Ogbele Modular Refinery in March, eight years after Phase 1 was commissioned.
The 5kbd (0.25Mnta) Phase 2 (called Train 2) will have five times the capacity of Phase 1. It will produce five different products, including more diesel, AGO, Dual Purpose Kerosene, DPK, to meet the quality specification for jet fuel, marine diesel, heavy fuel oil, as well as stabilised naphtha.
Train 3 (Phase 3) of the refinery will be commissioned before the end of 3Q19, but the gasoline unit won’t be ready until 2020.
Since the Ogbele oil field produces at most 6.5kbd (0.325Mnta), the company would import crude oil from other nearby fields for the plant to function at full capacity.
