Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery commissions new unit and Al-Zour complex nearing end of construction
Kuwait National Petroleum (KNPC) has commissioned a new clean-diesel production unit and started production of 45kbd (2.25Mnta) ultralow-sulphur diesel (ULSD) at its 466kbd (23.3Mnta) Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery, as part of its ongoing Clean Fuels Project (CFP).
Work is also ongoing to transform the Mina Abdullah and Mina Al-Ahmadi refineries into an integrated 800kbd (40Mnta) complex to produce clean-burning fuels conforming to Euro 5 standards.
KPC continues to near the end of construction of its 615kbd (30.75Mnta) Al-Zour integrated refining complex, which was previously scheduled for start-up by yearend 2019. No new timeframe had been divulged. The refinery recently received the final 8,600-tonne module shipment for the project from Fluor.
